The CC7650 SEM carbon coater is a fully integrated bench top carbon evaporation system designed to coat up to six SEM samples for EDS and WDS applications . It is also ideal for coating samples to be imaged by back scatter detection systems. Rapid and reproducible results are assured and a 3 year warranty is provided.

The K450X uses several Carbon Fibre types to cover a range of deposition thicknesses operating at rotary vacuum pressures. Coating is omni-directional, and this fully Automatic System has a relatively short cycle time of the order of 5 minutes.
The system employs low voltage, high current, electrodes between which the carbon fibre is located.
The electrode assembly employs a protective shutter to protect the specimen from the heat radiation damage during the timed outgassing of the carbon fibre process. At completion of this process, the shutter automatically retracts, and full power is applied to the electrodes, causing the carbon to burn quickly or 'flash' the fibre fusing as part of the process. At this point, the shutter returns to the protective position.
The controls can be preselected to allow for different types of carbon fibre.
This, together with adjustable specimen stage to electrode distance, and fully automatic control, allows repeatable deposition thickness to be achieved. The vacuum cycle and external rotary vacuum pump, being fully controlled by the Instrument.

The K950X High Vacuum Carbon Evaporator will give continuous carbon films using carbon rod evaporation, and with contamination-free turbomolecular pumping. It can be used for support films and replicas in TEM and X-Ray analysis, and conducting coatings for SEM.
The films are continuous for thickness of 2nm (20 Angstroms) or more and are free of significant structure.
The most common form of deposition is from resistance heated carbon rods spectrographically pure. The rods are shaped to achieve high current density with sufficient temperature to cause evaporation. At this point the appearance being that of small, bright, glowing particles of carbon. To achieve the required vacuum condition of 1x10-4 mbar, requires the use of Diffusion or Turbo Molecular Pumps.
The K950X comes with a Turbo Pump fitted as standard, and is backed by a Rotary Vacuum Pump, the complete sequence being under fully automatic control and the vacuum better than 1x10-5 mbar. A variable control is available to pre-heat and outgas the rods, whilst the use of an instantaneous evaporate switch allows burst evaporation under user control.
The Standard Rotary Specimen Table has adjustable tilt, and can facilitate a range of specimen stubs. An Optional Stage has a special recess to locate standard glass slides, specifically beneficial for 'asbestos analysis' methods requiring carbon coatings.
The unit comes complete with a Carbon Rod Head fitted as standard. This is a 'Quick Release Head' to enable user friendly fitting of any of the Optional Metal Evaporation, Carbon Fibre and Aperture Cleaning Heads.
The normal venting is by restriction to avoid specimen disturbance with the system being fully interlocked.
The Turbo pump can be mounted on any axis, and can 'shutdown' safely to atmosphere.
